A Few Words About Me

R. Yehoshua’ ben Karchah  said that “studying without reviewing is like sowing without reaping” (adapted and paraphrased). Flavio teaches Biblical Hebrew and the courses “Jewish Background of the New Testament” and “Discovering the Hebrew Bible”.


Flavio holds a B.A. in Business Management from FESP and a B.A. in Law from UTP (Brazil). He also holds an MDiv from Andrews University (Michigan, USA) and is currently completing a PhD/ThD in Biblical Studies with a cognate in Systematic Theology at the same institution.

Professional Experience

Flavio has been teaching languages since 1994. He was also a language school coordinator/director in Brazil and a chaplain in the United States. He began teaching Biblical Hebrew in Michigan (USA) in 2012 and joined the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies in 2013. Besides teaching, he currently serves as an editorial assistant for the SDA International Bible Commentary Project.
