This course explores the interconnected stories of Israelite kings and prophets, focusing on Jehoshaphat's reign and the miraculous ministry of Elisha. Students will follow key battles, prophetic interventions, and Elisha's miracles—from healings to raising the dead—while drawing comparisons with Elijah's parallel deeds and connecting these narratives to laws on leprosy in Leviticus and themes of divine provision in the Psalms and Malachi.

Aimed at Hebrew Level D/E and Discovery Lab graduates who are ready for advanced biblical texts. Explore prophetic narratives from Chronicles and Elisha's miracles, alongside passages from Leviticus and wisdom literature from Psalms and Malachi. This advanced course reveals how heaven and earth meet through the Hebrew Bible's most powerful and complex texts.
The theme of war continues from the previous course but the focus shifts to 2nd Chronicles 18 and the joint efforts of Jehoshaphat and Ahab, the failure of which was reluctantly prophesied by Micaiah.
We continue following and the joint efforts of Jehoshaphat and Ahab in the battle and see how the prophesy of Micaiah is fulfilled.
This unit explores the Moabite-Ammonite attack against Judah in chapter 20 as well as the role of prophecy in difficult times.
Jehoshapat’s prayer of thanks is followed by verses of victory in Psalm 115.
The victory over Moab and Ammon is compared to the Exodus.
Jehoshaphat’s wicked son, Jehoram, is introduced – as well as God’s promise of hope nonetheless.
This unit shifts to the story of Elisha in 1st Kings 19 and 2nd Kings 2-3, where his selection to replace Elijah is interwoven with the account of the crossing of the Jordan.

The Aramean siege of Samaria in 2nd Kings 6 grants Elisha the opportunity to pray that his servant would be able to see the angelic protection.
After the blinding of the Aramean forces, Elisha proposes to treat the captives with honor and to send them away peaceably on their journey. Famine in Samaria.

The hunger of Samaria’s residents was only alleviated when four lepers discovered the abandoned Aramean camp.
The Aramean has been abandoned with its wealth and even food supplies left behind. This miraculous provision is compared to Malachi 3 as well.
